The Castagnole are one of the classic and traditional cakes we Italian make for carnival.
A delicacy easy to make that will not last long on your kitchen table!
- 200g of plain flour
- 50g of caster sugar
- 40g of butter(softened)
- 2 medium eggs
- 1 pinch of salt
- 1 tea spoon of vanilla extracts
- 1 tea spoon of baking powder
- vegetable oil
- icing sugar
In a bowl put the butter the sugar and the eggs. Using your hands mix the ingredients and slowly add the flour, until you will obtain a nice and soft ball of pastry.
From the pastry make several rolled stripes, cut them in little pieces (1.5 cm) and then roll them to form little balls.
In a deep pan pour abundant vegetable oil and when hot start frying your pastry balls, few at time.
When nice and brown drain them on kitchen paper, then place them on your serving plate and dust with icing sugar.
